- Change your needle every two projects or three – four sewing hours. Do not use a dull or damaged needle.
- If your needle gets jammed in your fabric, turn off your machine, and remove the needle from the needle bar. Do not use the hand wheel to pry the needle out. It may negatively affect the timing of your machine or damage the hook of your machine.
- It is NOT recommended sewing over pins. You risk breaking the needle, which could fly in your face or cause a burr on the hook. Replacing a damaged hook can be expensive & time consuming. If you have a broken needle, be sure to find and remove all broken pieces.
- Use good quality thread. Use long fiber or long staple 100% cotton, polyester, or silk thread.
- Do not use canned air to clean out the hook area of your machine. Lint and moisture flies up and may damage the computer boards.
- Keep your sewing machine away from high moisture, sunlight, dust, and variable temperatures. Cover your machine when it is not in use to prevent pet hair and household dust from entering the many openings on your machine.
- Remove the bobbin and clean the bobbin area frequently. Oil and lubricate the bobbin area as needed – we suggest every two to three bobbins. (refer to your sewing manual)
- Never use abrasives on the body of the machine or the touch screen. Any type of mild cleaning agent, such as Formula 409, should be sprayed onto a cloth and then applied to the body of the machine. Never use acetone, mineral spirits, or harsh chemicals.
- Refrain from winding multiple colored layers of thread onto your bobbin. It keeps the thread from being wound evenly unto the bobbin and it also hinders correct bobbin tension.
